Junior sailing courses will take place during July and August at Rosmoney. This year, Mayo Sailing Club is running the following courses: Start sailing, basic skills, improving skills, advanced boat handling and kites and wires and possibly some other advanced modules depending on demand and instructor availability. A brief outline of the various modules is given below. Noelle Doran will also be running some instructor training courses in the club, with the dinghy instructor course from June 18 to 22 next up.

The turnout in Mayo for polling on the Fiscal Compact Referendum was slow yesterday morning as drizzle replaced the sunshine the county had been used to in the previous week. However on Clare Island, where voting took place on Tuesday, the turnout was at 52 per cent according to the office of Fintan Murphy, the returning officer for Mayo.

ON TUESDAY Cois Cladaigh Choir Galway will embark on a tour of southern Spain performing in Cordoba and Seville. The choir will be celebrating 30 years in existence next year and will perform their usual eclectic mix of Renaissance and contemporary music with a particular emphasis on music of Spanish composers including Albert Alcaraz, Juan del Ancina and Fransisco Guererro.
